TD Ameritrade Senior Technical Project Manager in Columbia, Maryland

See yourself improving TD Ameritrade’s understanding of its digital properties by helping manage projects and the Data Team’s intake process. This is all in effort to gain a better understanding of how clients use the various TD Ameritrade digital properties. These insights help the business improve our experiences and support data driven decision making. You will work with Business/Marketing and Technology Stakeholders. You will be part of the Technology (T2) Organization, specifically our Data Group. As a Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the requirements gathering and intake processes that the Data Group uses to execute on delivery. The role has responsibility for the projects/tasks covered throughout all aspects of the life-cycle including; inception, planning, execution, control, and completion. You will report to the Manager of Digital Data. The Digital Data Team is chartered to work towards the next level of digital features, measurement, and insights. This will be accomplished by working with this Cross-Functional Team ensuring that measuring our digital performance is part of our instantiated culture and process.

  • Assist in creating overall project work plans for the Team.

  • Communicate effectively and to all levels of management. Ensuring visibility to task priority and progress, timelines, blockers, risk, etc.

  • Work with Business/Marketing Partners to gather tagging requirements across various platforms including mobile apps, desktop applications, and browser based for the immediate Team to execute on.

  • Use an agile methodology to conduct sprint planning sessions.

  • Be responsible for updating JIRA accordingly to reflect accurate project and task status.

  • Ensure Team accountability by delivering agreed upon work within set timelines.

  • Collaborate with Business/Marketing Analytics Team across TDA to develop effective and efficient intake processes.

  • Work with Business/Marketing Analytics Project Leads to understand scope of work and set appropriate expectations on delivery.

  • Develop comprehensive project management templates

  • Assist with leading Team and Partner/Stakeholder meetings.

  • For meetings, provide detailed agendas, follow up minutes, action items, , etc.

  • Minimum of 4 years Project Management experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years total work experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 4 year college degree preferred

  • Ability to act as a faceoff to Business Partners with minimal oversight

  • Ability to handle multiple large project assignments simultaneously

  • Actively and Proactively participates in collaboration sessions with other thought leaders, key personnel and stakeholders within project settings

  • Ability to think creatively and have flexibility

  • Extraordinary Problem Solving Capabilities and Conflict Resolution Capabilities

  • Solid problem solving, decision making and analytical skills

  • Solid knowledge and experience in running projects in SDLC, PLC, Lean, Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) methodologies

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required for interactions across organization

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Experience in facilitating large group meetings

  • Experience in presenting to senior management

  • Competent in the technical arena and understanding of system development, process improvement, and/or infrastructure

  • Hands on working knowledge and experience in documenting Needs Assessment, User Stories, Epics, Business and Systems Requirements Analysis documents

  • Experience in planning for and effectively managing project and program risks

  • Experience in conducting ROI analysis for potential and existing Projects

  • Experience in contract negotiation and management

  • Respectfully challenge the norm and demonstrated ability to improve the process and efficiency of the team

  • Exhibits behaviors indicating a focus on goals, overcoming obstacles with the ability to exhibit respect and promoting teamwork

  • Ability to motivate and inspire team members, both on an individual and team level, with regards to achievement of project or program goals and objectives

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Project, Jira, Clarity and related Agile / Project Management Tools

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

  • CSM certified preferred (Agile Scrum Master Certification)

  • Analytics, software, or other tech project management experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to prioritize and contribute to multiple projects at once.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information to a wide range of stakeholders/partners.

  • High degree of ability to motivate Team Members effectively and tactfully required.

  • Background in analytics, measurement, marketing, or paid media a plus

  • Strong writing and presentation skills

  • Leadership and/or supervision experience preferred.

  • Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed
